CHSPSC, LLC seeks an Director, Public Relations for its Franklin, TN, headquarters’ Marketing team.
The Director of Communications and Public Relations is responsible for leading and executing strategic communications initiatives that help CHS and our affiliated hospitals advance their positive reputations and successfully communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
The Director of Communications and Public Relations will work with corporate and hospital leaders to develop communication plans, message platforms and materials that enable effective media relations, community and other key stakeholder relationships and internal communications. The Director of Communications and Public Relations will assist hospitals in achieving positive PR opportunities and provide communications support in the event of a crisis response or issues management. The Director of Communications and Public Relations may also work with corporate teams to assist in the effective communications for departmental and organization-wide initiatives, new programs and change management. This position is based at the company’s headquarters in Franklin, TN. Travel is minimal but occasionally required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Develop comprehensive communications plans and strategies to support the organization’s business objectives, manage and mitigate issues, and advance the positive reputation of the company and its affiliated hospitals.
•Oversee the development of media strategies and create media materials to proactively and reactively engage with reporters on a wide range of topics.
•Develop internal and external stakeholder communications to announce, describe or promote organizational, departmental or hospital initiatives and decisions ensuring timely, accurate and consistent messaging.
•Contribute to the writing, editing and development of web content, collateral materials, newsletters, memos, etc.
•Manage communications for key initiatives such as acquisitions and divestitures, capital investments, leadership transitions, managed care contract events, employee matters, etc.
•Manage and support effective communications through complex issues and during crisis events.
•Coordinate and manage the use of outside partners, consultants and PR firms.
•Seven or more years of strategic communications and public relations experience in the healthcare setting, including experience working in a hospital or healthcare system.
•Comprehensive knowledge of current healthcare trends and dynamics.
•Strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain relationships across the organization; proven track record of successfully working with senior level executives.
•Exceptional writing and editing skills in a variety of formats with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
•Outstanding organizational, planning and project management skills.
•Ability to prioritize multiple projects, quickly assess and synthesize information and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to influence opinions and gain critical buy-in for key projects.
•Self-starter with the ability to lead and/or work collaboratively in small and large teams, or independently.
A baccalaureate degree required, preferably in journalism, public relations, strategic communications or marketing. An advanced degree in business, health administration or marketing is considered a plus.
