Program Description

This PGY2 is an ASHP accredited second year residency to prepare pharmacists for a career in healthcare administration. 

 

The resident will share their time between experiences at the CHS corporate office and one of the affiliate CHS Hospitals: Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville. The partnership between the corporate office and the hospital allows the resident to experience two fundamental pharmacy leadership positions to prepare the resident for administration positions post-residency. 

A Longitudinal Experience  

The resident will be able to participate in a wide variety of opportunities by working with the CHS hospitals. Focus areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Clinical Management
  • Pharmacy Operations
  • Data Analytics
  • Performance Excellence
  • Medication Safety
  • Antimicrobial Stewardship
  • Pharmacy Automation
  • Pharmacoeconomics
  • Health System Enterprise Leadership 

Practical Experience – Being the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville  

The resident will act as the Assistant Director of Pharmacy. This experience provides the resident with an opportunity to make critical healthcare decisions under the direction of the director of pharmacy. By being intimately involved in the pharmacy’s operations, the resident will gain practical skills in personnel and pharmacy management.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy and completion of ASHP-accredited residency
  • Active pharmacy license in any U.S. state and eligible for pharmacist licensure in Tennessee 
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
  • After “The Match”, employment as a pharmacy resident is still contingent upon the applicant satisfying CHS’s employment eligibility requirements
