Job Summary
The Supervisor, Telemetry provides clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care within the telemetry unit. This role supports nursing staff by coordinating daily operations, managing throughput, and reinforcing evidence-based practice standards. The Supervisor promotes accountability, clinical excellence, and an exceptional patient experience while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
Essential Functions
- Oversees the daily operations of the telemetry unit, ensuring appropriate staffing, workflow coordination, and resource utilization.
- Provides direct supervision to clinical staff, including performance management, coaching, and identifying training needs.
- Monitors and supports the delivery of evidence-based care in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Facilitates communication between interdisciplinary teams to promote collaboration and continuity of care.
- Promotes a culture of accountability and excellence in patient safety, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
- Participates in initiatives aimed at reducing variation in clinical practice and improving efficiency, effectiveness, and cost containment.
- Supports patient throughput by managing admissions, transfers, and discharges to optimize bed utilization and care transitions.
- Analyzes and responds to patient and family feedback to enhance the patient experience and service recovery efforts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in a telemetry or acute care setting required
- 1-2 years of leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong clinical knowledge of telemetry and acute care practices.
- Ability to lead and support staff in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in use of electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.
- Understanding of quality improvement methodologies and patient safety principles.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement performance improvement strategies.
Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
