Job Summary
The Supervisor, Med Surg oversees the daily operations of the Medical-Surgical unit to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This role includes staff supervision, resource management, and adherence to clinical and regulatory standards. The Supervisor collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, promote a positive patient experience, and align unit goals with organizational objectives.
Schedule: 3a-3p three days a week. No weekends, no holidays.
Essential Functions
- Supervises daily operations of the Med-Surg unit, ensuring appropriate staffing, resource allocation, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Monitors and evaluates nursing care delivery, holding staff accountable for adherence to clinical standards and quality outcomes.
- Supports efforts to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness by managing operating expenses and identifying opportunities for cost savings in the utilization of supplies and equipment.
- Provides leadership to foster an unparalleled patient experience, ensuring positive and consistent patient interactions and addressing feedback to improve satisfaction.
- Identifies staff development needs, providing coaching, feedback, and training to enhance individual and team performance.
- Manages patient flow, including admissions, discharges, and transfers, to ensure efficient throughput and seamless care delivery.
- Reviews quality metrics, clinical outcomes, and operational performance, implementing improvements as necessary to meet unit and organizational goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- 2-4 years of clinical nursing experience in a Med-Surg or acute care setting required
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred

- Strong clinical knowledge of Med-Surg nursing practices and patient care standards.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to engage, mentor, and guide nursing staff.
- Ability to analyze and use data to drive improvements in patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to manage patient flow and unit operations.
- Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to the Med-Surg unit.
Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
