The OR Lead oversees the daily clinical activities of the operating room, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered perioperative care. Under the supervision of the Director, the OR Lead supports operational efficiency, serves as a clinical resource for staff, and ensures compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. This role combines hands-on patient care with leadership responsibilities, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence in surgical services.
Essential Functions
Provides leadership and oversight for daily clinical operations, ensuring optimal workflow and resource allocation in the operating room.
Acts as a clinical mentor and resource for the perioperative team, fostering professional development and adherence to best practices.
Conducts preoperative patient assessments, develops nursing care plans, and evaluates the effectiveness of care, ensuring accurate documentation in the medical record.
Ensures the proper preparation and setup of the operating room, including equipment and supplies, to meet procedural requirements.
Prepares patients for surgery by positioning them appropriately, performing skin antisepsis, and confirming identity, procedure, and site in compliance with safety protocols.
Assists anesthesia personnel with intubation/extubation, fluid volume monitoring, blood product administration, and thermoregulation during surgical procedures.
Performs surgical counts, manages specimens, and ensures proper documentation and handover of patient care.
Maintains infection prevention standards, observing aseptic techniques and taking corrective actions when needed.
Monitors intraoperative patient safety, including positioning, equipment usage, and medication safety, addressing issues proactively to prevent adverse outcomes.
Assists in post-procedure activities, including room cleanup, proper disposal of supplies, and preparation for subsequent cases.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in perioperative or surgical nursing required
1-2 years of prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications
