Job Summary

The Radiation Therapy Lead provides clinical leadership and oversight for radiation therapists while delivering high-quality, patient-centered radiation oncology services. This role ensures accurate and safe administration of prescribed radiation treatments, provides training and guidance to staff and students, and collaborates with leadership to implement new technologies and improve operational protocols. The Radiation Therapy Lead also performs quality assurance procedures, troubleshoots equipment issues, and assumes supervisory responsibilities when needed.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinates daily workflow and staffing assignments for radiation therapists to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery.
  • Provides clinical and didactic instruction to radiation therapy staff and students; ensures proper onboarding and adherence to safety standards.
  • Assists in reviewing and revising departmental policies to reflect current best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Monitors treatment rooms, simulation, and CT areas to ensure adequate staffing, functionality, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Performs patient setup and accurately delivers prescribed radiation treatments, ensuring adherence to treatment plans and proper use of immobilization and shielding devices.
  • Conducts quality assurance checks and warm-up procedures on treatment equipment; promptly reports and addresses malfunctions or deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoots minor equipment faults and coordinates with service personnel and leadership as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and fully stocked treatment environment by performing equipment checks and restocking supplies.
  • Serves as the acting supervisor in the absence of the Radiation Therapy Supervisor, if needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist required
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of radiation therapy principles, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to evaluate workflows, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in treatment planning systems and electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Radiation Therapist (ARRT-T) required
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
