Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Reviewing clinical results and ensuring the provider’s documentation reflects patient’s primary diagnosis, major complications and co-morbidities, present of admission status, acuity of care, and severity of illness
  • Issuing queries to providers to improve or clarify documentation
  • Providing documentation education to providers, as needed, based on trends
  • Helping impact the facility’s Health Grade scores and Case Mix Index (CMI)

Key qualifications to be considered for this include:

  • Required: 5 years RN experience in acute care setting (ICU, MedSurg) or 5 years Inpatient Coding experience
  • Required: Work is onsite and relocation assistance is available
  • Preferred: CDIS credentialed
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective verbal communication skills and ability to build rapport with providers in person, over the phone, and through text
  • Strong organizational skills to manage and achieve progress on multiple priorities simultaneously
  • High degree of initiative and accountability
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Works independently
