Monitors hospital for possible infection outbreak. Implements and maintains plans and procedures concerning control measures as set forth by the infection control committee. Identifies and initiates isolation protocols and informs the appropriate state and county organizations of any reportable diseases. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Associate's degree and is certified as a registered nurse. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. 1-3 years nursing experience required. Prefer previous infection control experience.
The Infection Control Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for ensuring compliance with state, federal, and The Joint Commission standards relating to infection control. Infection Prevention is responsible for the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the system-wide infection control program. Assists with the development of policies and procedures as well as collaborates with and acts as a consultant for the department managers and staff. Advises, implements, and evaluates measures necessary to prevent the spread of infections within the health system and community.
