Job Description

The Chief Dive Tech/HBO Safety Officer is responsible for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber and related systems and ancillary components. Works closely with facility management and medical staff, and has authority to restrict or remove any potentially hazardous supply or equipment items from the chamber. Provides leadership and safety training to other hyperbaric facility staff, while maintaining all facility safety standards as required by various licensing and regulatory agencies. Operates the chamber to assigned procedures and performs routine & emergency procedures, making dives on a routine basis.As Chief Dive Tech, delivers quality care to patients under the supervision of an RN.

As Chief Dive Tech, delivers quality care to patients under the supervision of an RN. Actively participates in and adheres to Performance Improvement objectives/goals and the mission of LHN.

 

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications

Registration/Certification/Licensure: Currently licensed as an LPN in the state of Indiana

  • Required certifications must be obtained and maintained in the timeframe indicated: within 30 days: BCLS
  • Must have documentation of successful completion of at least a 40 credit hour, UHMS, NBDHMT, or BNA approved training course in the Primary Clinical Hyperbaric Medicine Therapy. Should be eligible for certification by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology or equivalent within 2 years of initial clinical hyperbaric medicine training. Registration and licensure from Indiana State Board of Health. Certification needs to be maintained.

Education/Experience:  Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN school. Experience in acute care preferred.

 

Job Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written in order to establish and maintain positive therapeutic/working relationships with all internal and external unit customers, as needed.
