Department Labor and Delivery
The Registered Nurse is accountable to the Women’s Services Nursing Director, and provides professional nursing services through education and patient care in the hospital setting. Follows established nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning intervention, and evaluation. Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as a primary liaison between patients, families, staff and providers. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: As required by licensing agency
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served within the unit. Special skills required of the Registered Nurse include the ability to communicate effectively with patients, family, and healthcare personnel.
Current RN license recognized in the State of Texas
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
Must obtain ACLS, NRP within 9months of hire. STABLE highly recommended but not required.
AWHONN or Advance Fetal Monitoring certification after a minimum of 6 months in L&D
Works in well illuminated climate-controlled patient care area. May come in contact with hazardous chemicals or treatment modalities with frequent exposure to ionizing radiation. Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases, blood, and body fluids. Environment may be stressful. Work schedule will vary.
