Executive position responsible for achieving profitable growth, clinical excellence and regulatory compliance through their management of behavioral health facilities.

Community Health Systems ("CHSPSC, LLC") is one of the leading operators of general acute care hospitals. The organization's affiliates own, operate, or lease hospitals in 16 states, with an aggregate of approximately 21,000 licensed beds. The consolidated organization owns and leases community hospitals that offer quality, cost-effective healthcare including a range of inpatient medical and surgical services, outpatient treatment and skilled nursing care. In over 60 percent of the markets served, CHS-affiliated hospitals are the sole provider of healthcare services.

CHSPSC, LLC seeks a Vice President, Behavioral Health Services for its Franklin, TN, headquarters’ Behavioral Health team.

Summary:  Executive position responsible for achieving profitable growth, clinical excellence and regulatory compliance through their management of behavioral health facilities. Works with Regional and Facility leadership on market/hospital behavioral health strategic growth initiatives, ensures efficient operations, and assists with budgeting of behavioral health related services. In coordination with the facility CEO, oversees and supervises each facility’s behavioral health leader/director. Works with corporate executive management to determine opportunities to grow the behavioral health service line inclusive of development and expansion of inpatient units as well as complementary outpatient or other continuum of care or innovative offerings (including the delivery of services through telemedicine, urgent care services, etc.).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Demonstrates expertise in coordinating, directing and managing all aspects of behavioral health services
  • Responsible to meet volume, FTE and financial targets for each behavioral health facility.
  •  Responsible for establishing and maintaining high quality patient care standards and services at each facility including environment of care.
  •  Executes Regional, Facility and Corporate Behavioral Health goals by leading initiatives, meeting deadlines, coordinating resources and providing accountability for the behavioral health team and local hospital behavioral health leadership.
  •  Assist the organization’s development and expansion strategy for behavioral health services including inpatient, outpatient and virtual care to provide a more comprehensive service line approach to the delivery of behavioral health services.
  •  In coordination with the facility CEO, is responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of each facility’s behavioral health key leadership positions in coordination with the host or supervising facility human resources department.
  •  Demonstrates strong budget management skills.
  •  Develops and manages behavioral health business development/community relations initiatives and strategies for each region.
  •  Ensures all admission and intake functions provide effective, efficient, compliant, and consumer friendly services.
  •  Works with leadership to address all physician leadership, practice and recruitment needs.
  •  Assists all facilities with ED strategies related to behavioral health patients to provide quality and efficient care.
  •  Ensures all compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
  •  Provides regular onsite reviews of behavioral health operations to ensure quality patient care and staff support needs are met and communicates status to leadership.
  •  Monthly Operating Reviews (MOR) with Regional President (or designee) and CEO’s (or designee).
  •  Serves as the lead of the behavioral health team to develop and coordinate resources to ensure efficient and effective operations for the regions and facilities.
  •  Participates on all corporate initiatives and strategies as requested.

 

Qualifications: Successful tenure as a CEO of a Behavioral Health Facility with a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred. Experience in a rapid growth environment through both organic and M&A activity.

Personal, Professional and Computer Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally through verbal and written communications, use of technology consistent with level of executive status (e.g. interpretation of spreadsheets, financial documents, etc.).

 

Physical Demands: Position requires frequent travel to hospital/market behavioral health units, clinics or other sites as needed to ensure safe, high quality, efficient operations. Development opportunities may also require travel to markets as needed to ensure growth and adequate planning and execution.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides leadership and oversight for the corporate behavioral health team and in coordination with the facility CEO, oversees and supervises each facility’s behavioral health leader/director either directly or through an assigned corporate behavioral health team member.

 

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in business or relevant discipline required. Masters degree in behavioral sciences, administration, business or healthcare related field or nursing degree a preference.
