Diagnoses and treats speech and language problems, and engages in scientific study of human communication. Evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors. Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic and nonorganic etiology. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. This position requires flexibility to be able to move between multiple settings within the hospital. Excellent communication skills and ability to work well those outside our own discipline is required. Knowledge of current PDPM regulations is a plus. Experience with MBSS is also a plus.  

Qualifications: 

Education: 

Graduate of an accredited Speech Therapy program. Masters Degree Preferred. 

Experience: 

May be a new graduate, but prefer 1 to 2 years of staff ST experience. Experience with PPS system and ability to articulate skilled criteria a plus. Desirable characteristics include proficiency in written and verbal communication. Proficiency with computerized documentation, and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public. Experience/Competency with Modified Barium Swallows needed.

Licences/Certifications: 

Licensed or eligible for license in the State of Texas. Must hold a certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Associate (ASHA).
