The dispatcher answers calls from facilities in the region to dispatch ambulances for the purpose of interfacility transports, both emergent and non-emergent. The dispatcher uses their medical knowledge to determine the level of service needed, the time frame for an ambulance to be at the facility and the estimated return time. Time management is a mandatory skill for the dispatcher. The dispatcher also enters call information into a log, scans documents and attaches them to run reports while ensuring that all the proper documentation has been captured.
