Job Description

Responsible for providing secretarial support for all employees within an assigned nursing unit. Maintains and updates patients' records for a given unit. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. The shift is 7a-3:30p, 16 hours per week, every other weekend and every other Holiday

Position Purpose:

The primary focus of the secretary is to support the day to day operations of the department by performing clerical functions and nonclinical tasks as assigned in a specific nursing department.

Position Qualifications:

·          High School graduate or equivalent.

·          Medical terminology experience preferred. 

  • CPR certification is required

 

General Duties

Performs clerical duties as assigned.

Utilizes pertinent computer applications as necessary.

Possesses organizational skills; ability to multi-task; works accurately and methodically and pays attention to detail. .

Works with minimal supervision, handles pressure and meets deadlines.

Answers phone promptly and professionally and directs call to appropriate staff in a timely fashion.

Obtains patients signatures on Important Messages from Medicare (IMM) per policy.

Adheres to Standards of Behavior.

Completes follow-up appointments.

Adheres to dress code.

Possesses strong interpersonal and effective communication skills.

Acts as a trained observer as required.

Documents all physician consults in timely fashion.

Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

Brings all assigned tasks to completion.

Is courteous and respectful to patients, families, physicians and staff.

Is responsible for maintaining safe environment of care.
