Job Description

Directs the programs and staff of the respiratory therapy department. Develops and implements respiratory care services in accordance with the policies of the hospital and the directives of the medical staff. The Director of Respiratory Services has  accountability for the planning, directing, leading and evaluating the care, provided by the Respiratory Services staff and EEG Department.  Acts as Point of Care Supervisor for ABG’s testing.  Prepares requests for the fiscal year’s budget and is accountable for achieving the department’s budgetary and productivity goals. Interacts closely with other facility staff and department heads to ensure safe, quality patient care is provided in accordance with corporate, facility and unit standards.

Ensures  Joint Commission elements of performance are met and maintained. Participates on committees, task forces as assigned. Formulates reviews and assists in the revision of policies and procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:  Requires minimum three years' prior experience in an acute care setting, as a Respiratory director or manager. 

License:  Current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist license in good standing, required.

Education: Requires minimum of Associates degree, Respiratory Therapy. Bachelor's degree, preferred.

Required Certifications:  BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (must be current prior to hire) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross (with skills)
