Full Time
Under the administrative and clinical supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, the supervisor, coordinates and supervises the activities of the unit social workers. The supervisor also provides direct clinical and case management services to patients, parents, and family members.
Minimum two (2) years experience working in the mental health field as a clinician. Experienced in individual, group, and family therapy and case management preferred. Ability to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and family members/legal guardians; demonstrates verbal and written communication skills and the ability to express ideas in a clear, concise and legible form; ability to make independent decisions, when necessary; ability to interface with all disciplines, ability to organize and prioritize multifaceted workload; knowledge of social work principles, including individual, group and family therapies and casework activities; practice within the National Association of Social Workers’ Code of Ethics; and exercises tact, diplomacy and good judgment at all times. | |||||||||||
Provide clinical supervision to the social workers and patient care coordinators assigned to the appropriate programs, assuring appropriate and adequate therapeutic interventions are implemented: evaluate performance of clinical social services staff in conjunction with the Director of Behavioral Health and completes all related evaluation documents and human resource forms. | |||||||||||
Assure individuals responsible for the assessment, treatment and care of patients are competent, as appropriate to the patients served; monitors and evaluates the quality of patient care. | |||||||||||
Review all admissions to the program and assign the patient to the appropriate social worker. | |||||||||||
Gather data related to psych/social history and presenting problems from patient, family and other sources and complete social service assessments on each patient, as per department policy. | |||||||||||
Contribute to multidisciplinary planning by sharing clinical observations, insights, conclusions, and recommendations with the team for inclusion in patients treatment plan. Keep treatment team informed of patients progress toward treatment goals. | |||||||||||
Obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs, possess knowledge of growth and development specific to patient population and understand the range of therapy needed by a specific patient population. | |||||||||||
Write meaningful narrative notes, including assessment, interventions, descriptions of patient response and conclusions in a timely and legible manner | |||||||||||
Apply crisis intervention techniques to stabilize patient for further therapy and problem resolution | |||||||||||
Obtain and interpret information in terms of patient’s needs, possess knowledge of growth and development specific to patient population; and understand the range of treatment needed by a specific patient population | |||||||||||
Ascertain the clinical learning needs of the social service staff assigned to the program; participate in the development /provision of in-service training activities | |||||||||||
Collaborate with the Program Director, Nurse Supervisor, Social Worker staff to define, develop and modify, if necessary, the program philosophy, approach and schedule, to develop and review program goals and objectives, to problem solve and to identify and resolve any areas with the potential for improvement in patient care | |||||||||||
Provide direct therapeutic interventions such as individual, group, and family therapy, on all assigned cases, as per unit schedule and per department policy | |||||||||||
Present and explain treatment plan to patient and family members or guardians as needed. Elicit understanding of patients disability and secure patients and/or family or guardians signature and comments on master treatment plan | |||||||||||
Establish and maintain a therapeutic rapport with assigned patients and family members/guardians |
