Job Description

Under direct supervision of the Clinical Manager/designee, performs the receptionist/secretarial duties on the patient care unit while functioning as the focal communication source. Functions as the unit receptionist, greets visitors and patients, responds to physician inquiries and requests, uses appropriate line of communication and authority. Assists with the admission and discharge of patients. Responsible for accurate data entry of all information required for the development and maintenance of the patient record. Maintains department statistics and prepares monthly reports as directed. Performs duties in accordance with established policies and procedures of Bayfront Health. Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in a clerical or receptionist position is preferred. Demonstrates positive communication
skills with patients, physicians, hospital personnel and visitors. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Good
written and oral communication skills. Data entry/computer skills preferred. Able to read, write and comprehend
medical terminology.

ER TECH

Under the supervision and/or direction of the Director, Clinical Manager or Professional RN, performs various duties assisting Professional RN’s in treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of BH. Observes and reports all pertinent information regarding the patient’s condition to a RN. ED technician must perform in the capacity of relief unit secretary, transportation, and ED technician duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

Experience as a Florida EMT, Paramedic or CNA in a health care setting preferred. Must be proficient with medical terminology. Previous experience in a related field desirable. Must be able to relate to patients, physicians, hospital personnel and visitors in a positive and responsive way. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Good written and oral communication skills. Computer skills preferred. Able to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.

EDUCATION

High school graduate or GED. Must have successfully completed 1) EMT/Paramedic training program or 2) CNA training as well as an IV Therapy and Phlebotomy course. Will consider Medical Corpsman Armed Forces experience and/or other medical specialties on an individual basis.
