Job Description

The Nurse Intern is responsible for assisting in direct patient care of all age groups from neonate through geriatric, specific to the unit assigned; assisting with patient transfers and repositioning, transporting of patients, supplies, or specimens; and any other duties as deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care and physician service, under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse. The Nurse Intern is responsible to the Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, Department Manager/Director, Nursing Supervisor, Associate Directors of Nursing Services and the Chief Nursing Officer.

Individuals who have completed their 2nd semester of nursing school are eligible for Nurse Intern.

Job Summary: A Nurse Intern is a support for nursing staff. Daily responsibilities include: vital signs, providing baths for patients, changing linens, passing meal trays, checking blood sugars, obtaining intake and output totals, assistant patients to restroom, documenting care provided in Electronic Medical Record. As a nurse intern, you will have the training to do such skills as administering PO medications, removing catheters and IV's, wound care, and other nursing skills to assist in your training to become a nurse.

  • Education - High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience - no experience required - On the job training 
  • License/Certifications - Must maintain current BLS certifications (provided by Flowers Hospital)
