Job Description

Summary:

The Master Data Management (MDM) Technical Lead is an Information Architect (IA) responsible for applying MDM strategies, requirements and policies aligned to the company's vision, and supporting an MDM implementation on Oracle Cloud platform. The Master Data Lead will be critical in designing the future state Master Data Management architecture, selecting the tool(s) to be used, and ensuring the team and organization comply with the agreed upon strategy. They will be working heavily with the ERP functional and technical team throughout the duration of the Oracle implementation and the phased go lives. Strong data management experience is recommended as well as historical knowledge of the current disparate data stores throughout the organization. An understanding or willingness to learn industry standard data retention practices is preferred. Will work with vendors associated with the ERP architecture to push standardization across integrations, reports, and conversions so already existing vendor relationships are a nice to have. During testing the Master Data Lead will review conversion validations. During the Oracle go live events the Master Data Lead will ensure that conversion acitivities follow the Master Data Strategy, and will incorporate any necessary changes as all CHS hospitals and systems are integrated.                                                                                                     

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Understand software engineering best practices and exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, or criteria for work
  • Responsible for overall MDM application architecture
  • Define measurable metrics and the minimal required attributes for each domain or subject area to support a robust and successful deployment of a MDM platform
  • Define requirements for data matching and merging rules, survivorship criteria and data stewardship workflows that can be deployed in the endorsed MDM tool
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture teams (data integration, data architecture, business intelligence) to develop and deliver MDM solutions
  • Conduct effective technical reviews of Data Pipelines to ensure quality of Information delivery
  • Mentor and Coach junior team members on data management & data services best practices
  • Lead master data development, data quality, data model, and collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Identify, assess and solve complex business problems for area of responsibility, where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of master data
  • Lead configuration of processes and approval workflows for Master records to be created or changed, according to the different areas of responsibilities and business functions
  • Define artifacts for the review of completeness and consistency of the Master Data, and audit to ensure compliance with defined financial, analytical and process requirements
  • Create quality documentation (Business Process documents, process flows, policies and procedures, strategies, etc.) Define and own (master) data management strategy
  • Establish and implement (master) data management capabilities and best practices aligned with the business, Digital Transformation and Data & Analytics goals and priorities;
  • Establish consistent metrics to measure quality of data and implemented solutions;
  • Establish and operationalize federated operating model by building effective partnerships with business domains and embed clear roles & responsibilities closely to the business
  • Understand the technology landscape of transactional systems, data management and master data layer, to analytics and consuming applications;
  • Lead and own the relationship with software vendor(s) and MSPs supporting MDM initiatives

Qualifications:

  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in a similar role
  • BS/BA degree in IT, or equivalent level of work experience
  • Knowledge and/or certification(s) in data archival policies and practices                                                                                                                             
  • 2 - 5 years of experience related to managing data (architect, create, manage data quality, archive)
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in managing data conversion activity associated with ERP transformations
  • 2 - 5 years of experience related to ERP’s preferably Oracle
  • 2 - 5 years of experience and knowledge of end-to-end IT software development lifecycle from idea conception through planning, requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, support and transition into operations teams
  • Ability to analyze complex business problems and evaluate data solutions
  • Ability to communicate data solutions to business partners in a meaningful way
  • Ability to oversee projects, manage resources and influence outcomes beyond line management structures
  • Strong analytical, communication, time-management, facilitation, presentation, influencing and project/portfolio management skills
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive cost/benefit, fit-gap and pro/con analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in building effective “trusted advisor” relationships with business partners and IT colleagues using negotiation, mediation and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated discipline, analytical skills, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
