Position Overview

 

We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for a full time day shift position, plus call. The Cath Lab Registered Nurse circulates and provides pre/post care in the Cath Lab holding area for diagnostic and interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular cases, as well as interventional radiology cases.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Performs patient assessments pre, peri, and post procedure
  • Maintains a safe, aseptic environment in the Cath Lab
  • Administers medications as ordered by the physician
  • Maintains competent knowledge of all procedures and adheres to procedure protocol
  • Assists all personnel, patients, and physicians as needed
  • Operates and maintains equipment in good working order
  • Participates in the total maintenance of the department
  • Ensures that patient has an H & P documented by a physician according to appropriate standards prior to procedure
  • Settles patient after procedures and provides accepting RN with concise reports on the patient
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas, or license with a compact state required upon hire
  • American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire
  • Minimum of two (2) years of procedural experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory required
  • Must be proficient in performing all invasive cardiac cath procedures
  • Ability to be on-call approximately 7-10 days per month, including after-hours, weekends and/or holidays
