Job Description

Director of Imaging Full Time Beneftis

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1._____Leadership:  Possesses high quality leader skills in order to professionally lead the Medical Imaging team. Demonstrates good customer service skills and a positive attitude that reflects what is expected in employees.  Shows excellent organizational skills to successfully guide and lead staff.  Evaluates personnel both annually and ongoing to assure open communication with staff.  Discusses with the employee both areas for improvement and working strengths.  Plans for the next year with the employee with regards to goals for self-development.

2._____ Financial:  Assists the development an annual operating budget and capital expenditure plan: considering the appropriate needs of the hospital in providing care to meet patient needs.  Manages non-labor operational expenses in a manner consistent with hospital objectives and fiduciary responsibility. Responsible for product line development and growth.  Responsible for productivity and productivity improvements.

3._____EMR, RIS and PACS Systems:  Responsible for the control, operation and development of various aspects of the electronic medical records systems associated with the medical imaging department.  Responsible for the management and maintenance of the facility chargemaster and demonstrates a solid understanding of CPT and HCPCS codes and their compliant use.

4._____Quality Improvement:  Continuously assesses and improves the department performance.  Maintains good knowledge of workflow.  Utilizes the mission of Kosciusko Community Hospital to assure a standard quality of needs within the department.   

5._____Communication:  Coordinates communication with individuals in the department.  Conducts staff meetings with information relevant to staff needs and properly communicates CHS and facility objectives as necessary.  Allows for open communication with regards to suggestions and concerns and conducts communications in a positive manner that demonstrates support for organizational objectives.  Collaborates with personnel in decision making.  Maintains and works a Stop-light report, communicating effectively with staff to solicit and understand operational needs and status of items communicated.  Effectively communicates needs, issues and successes with executive leadership. Communicates effectively with physicians, peers and subordinates.

6._____Policies and Procedures:  Develops, implements and keeps current the policies and  procedures of the Medical Imaging Department.  Assures working relationship with other departments affected by a Medical Imaging policy.

7.____Regulatory:  Assures accreditation’s are of ongoing quality.  Oversees and maintains the Mammography, CT, MRI and Ultrasound ACR accreditations.  Assures that all requirements are met.  Follows through on any deficiencies in regulations.  Keeps up to date on new regulations and requirements for all aspects of the Medical Imaging Department.  Meets TJC, MQSA and NRC standards at all times.  Adheres to Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP) standards. 

8._____Recruitment and Staffing:  Responsible for department staff recruiting and the maintenance of proper staffing levels. Interviews and hires staff competent in the necessary job functions. Implements an effective orientation/onboarding program for new employees in the areas of policies, procedures, protocols and equipment and in compliance with TJC standards.

9._____Medical Equipment:  Maintains the condition of all Medical Imaging equipment and communicates system down-time and corrective actions needed with facility leadership and impacted parties (Hospitalists, ED, OR and etc).  Assures the safety of patients and personnel for all radiographic equipment.  Evaluates the need for new or replacement equipment and new supplies.  Must have a keen, analytical mind to identify analyze and solve problems. Demonstrates good troubleshooting, coordination and communication skills necessary to quickly resolve issues.  Requires a broad base of knowledge in the theory and technical practice of all imaging modalities.

10._____Staff Competency:  Assures the competency of personnel.  Continuously provides educational needs to the staff relative to working patient care.  Maintains this and provides in-service as needed.

  1. Participates with other department activities to assure interdepartmental working relationship. Works well with leadership and with other departments.  Demonstrates team building. skills
  2. Attends meetings relative to JCAHO, Quality, Policies/Procedures, etc. Shows attendance necessary and input requested.  Works well with other associates in producing outcomes for the improvement of Kosciusko Community Hosp.
  3. Shows ability to professionally coordinate and teach technical questions. Assures daily functioning of the Medical Imaging Department for patient care.  Provides direct patient care services as needed.
  4. Assures department is covered on a daily basis as well as all and holidays. Properly determines sufficient staffing level for each.  Assumes or delegates this responsibility.
  5. Works with Practice Management in maintaining quality imaging services at physician offices. Provides policies and procedures needed.  Suggests equipment and supplies needed for each site.
  6. Contributes to Performance Improvement activities at Kosciusko Community Hospital.
  7. Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or oral disclosure.
  8. Responsible for knowing the lifting requirements of the job and requesting assistance when appropriate.
  9. Observes all safety and hygiene rules/regulations.
  10. Assures protection and privacy of the health information record as obtained through oral, electronic or written disclosure.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs other tasks and related responsibilities as may be required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education Required:

Must have high school education and have successfully completed an approved Radiologic Technology or alternate medical Imaging technical program.  

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 1-year leadership experience in a healthcare related field, or, alternatively, a minimum of 10-years progressively more responsible related work experience which includes at least 5-years of manager level experience.

Experience Required:

Requires a minimum of three years work experience in the field of medical imaging with Management experience.
