Job Description

Examines heartbeat patterns on electrocardiograph monitors. Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in heartbeat. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require an associate's degree or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Job Summary: 

The Unit Secretary / Monitor Tech provides indirect patient care for patients in the Emergency Department.  Interacts professionally with all members of the healthcare team and patients / family.  Must provide continuous non-invasive ECG monitoring for patients, facilitate the smooth running of the nursing unit by performing a broad range of clerical duties, transcribes medical orders, maintains medical records, communicates effectively and provides an efficient unit.  Must assist in providing safe patient care.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School graduate, GED or 3 years relevant experience

 

 

Experience:

·         Six months experience in Emergency Department or Critical Care Setting.

·         Telemetry monitoring experience.

 

Licenses/Certifications:

·         Certification or course experience as monitor tech is required

·         BLS for Healthcare provider required
