Job Description

Conducts individual, group, and family therapy while maintaining a normal caseload. Completes psychosocial assessments, daily case notes, treatment planning, and updates while working with the multi-disciplinary team.  Establishes a therapeutic relationship with patients and helps the patients respond constructively to treatment. Assists patients in their adjustments throughout the treatment course. Interprets psychiatric treatment to the patient's family where appropriate. Helps reduce fear and other obstructive behavior toward the acceptance of psychiatric care and treatment continuation. Works with the hospital team from patient admission to discharge.  Responsible for maintaining up-to-date records on the patient.  MA or MS degree in Social Work.

What Does a Social Worker Do? As a Social Worker with Lower Keys Medical Center, you will spend your day…

  • Interviewing clients and their families and coordinating and planning programs and activities to meet their social and emotional needs.
  • Providing crisis intervention and assisting families in understanding the implications and complexities of the medical situation and its impact on their lifestyle.
  • You will rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish both short-term and long-term goals.
  • You will work under general supervision, typically reporting to a senior case manager, yet a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Which Qualifications Do You Need? In order to set you up for success, you need the basics of…

  • A Master's Degree is required, preferred in Social Work, however, Counseling will be considered.
  • Current LMHC or LCSW is preferred.
  • MA or MS degree in Social Work.
  • Minimum two years of supervised post-degree work as a therapist specific to the population served by the facility.  
  • Two to four years prior experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
  • Experience with mental status evaluations, DSM-V diagnosis, intake interviews, treatment plants, prognosis notes preparation, and provision of individual and group therapies specific to the population served.
  • At least two years of experience in hospitalization program, intensive outpatient program, and or outpatient clinic.
  • A Licensed Clinical Social Workers license require.
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
