Medical Technologist II - Laboratory -PRN

Works alongside with section supervisor. Performs blood test and studies of constituents and morphology of blood. Cultures, isolates and assists in identification of bacteria in body fluids, exudates and tissue samples. Performs various bacteriological, mycological and parasitological tests to provide data on cause of diseases. Assumes the duty of Section/Shift supervisor in case of his/her absence from the workplace. Collect specimens, as needed.  Performs quality assurance studies, quality control activities and investigational studies, as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

Minimum Education:  Associate/Bachelor degree in clinical laboratory, chemical or biological science or completion of ninety (90) semester hours of academic credit required for licensure as a technologist.

Preferred Education:  Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology

Required Experience:  One year experience in three (3) or more areas of a laboratory.

Preferred Experience:  Two years laboratory experience in all areas

Required Registration/Certification:  Current Florida license as a Medical Technologist in three or more specialty areas.

Preferred Registration/Certification:  ASCP or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.  Ability to perform effectively in fast paced, stressful environment
