Physical Therapy Asst - Rehab (FT, Days)

The Physical Therapist Assistant functions under the general supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services and under the direct supervision of the therapist responsible for a specific patient's care.  The Physical Therapist Assistant assumes responsibility and accountability for providing physical therapy modalities and treatment procedures as determined by a treatment plan established by a Physical Therapist and in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies while maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care.  The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy interventions; provides patient and family teaching; and works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional physical therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.  These functions are carried out according to hospital policy in accordance with the mission and vision of the hospital and consistent with the philosophy of the department.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Education / License / Certification:

• Minimum of an associate's degree in physical therapy required
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Tennessee
• Current Basic Life Support/CPR Card

Experience/Skills:

• One year of experience in the care of patients in an acute hospital, outpatient, or acute rehab setting preferred
• Good general health and stress coping ability required
• Must have ability to stand, walk, full mobility and the ability to participate in vigorous activity
• Position requires ability to clearly and effectively communicate
