Phlebotomist - PRN (not FT; regular rate)

Performs all required procedures relating Histology department testing on all types of specimens. Performs quality control procedures, instrument function checks, and preventative maintenance as required according to department policies and procedures. Teaches new employees laboratory policies and procedures. Accurately orients tissue in paraffin blocks. Produces high quality slides using a microtome. Performs special stains as required. Performs and assists with frozen sections. Assists pathologist with bone marrow biopsies. Enters surgical specimen data into the laboratory computer system. Monitors instrumentation for daily quality control and preventative maintenance. Willingly accepts other duties as required.

Education: 

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.  Completion of a formal training course in phlebotomy procedures from an accredited school or training program preferred. 

Licenses/Certificates: 

CPR certified required.

Experience: 

One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
