Join our team! Laredo Medical Center's (LMC) Emergency Room is now hiring a Patient Sitter (PRN) - PM to work in LMC's 326 bed acute care hospital. The department is a secure, 38 bed Emergency room in the main campus of Laredo Medical Center. We have Level III Trauma designation. Everyone in the units report directly to the Director of ER. The Hospital is located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio. Skype or other Virtual Interviewing Processes (VIP) is available for out-of-town applicants. Primary job is to stay with assigned patient at all times, providing comfort care and alerting nursing staff of patient’s needs. Assigned to patients that are prone to unsafely exit bed or chair, or unable to alert nursing staff to their needs. Performs limited routine patient care duties under the direction of professional nursing staff. Assists patients with meals, hygiene, and activities of daily living as competent. Observes a patient or close observation of several patients. Respects all aspects of confidentiality with behavioral health patients. Observes room for safe environment for behavioral health patient(s), visitors and staff members.  Observes patient for any behavior that could indicate potential problems for patient or staff and alerts nursing staff immediately.  Works under the supervision and guidance of a staff nurse to provide observation of patients. Exercises all duties consistent with the needs of all patients/customers. Ensures the LMC values are reflected in all aspects of the department operation.

Applicants Job Requirements Include:

Education: 

Preferred: High school graduate or equivalent or experience.

Experience: 

Required: Successful completion of a patient sitter training/program or equivalent. Must be able to read and write in English.

Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable.
