Job Description

Compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment. Responsible for transferring prescriptions, handling incoming physician calls, logging data into the computer, and Drug Utilization Review. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager. Requires a bachelor's degree and/or an advanced degree in pharmacy and is licensed to practice. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Requires appropriate license for practicing state. * *Sign on Bonus Available**

To actively coordinate, on a day-to-day basis, the provision of high quality, comprehensive pharmaceutical care to the patients of BHSR, in compliance with federal and state legal/regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.  This includes: 

(1) involvement with multiple drug distribution functions (inclusive of computerized order entry and/or prospective review and verification of physicians’ orders, IV admixture preparation, etc.); 

(2) defined clinical/cognitive activities to optimize therapeutic outcomes under the guidance of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee directives (which include active communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff about the need to clarify and/or change an order along with documentation of intervention outcomes);

(3) educational activities with pharmacist colleagues and other health care professionals (e.g., physicians, nurses, etc.) to maintain and advance clinical competency in regards to drug therapy; 

(4) “supervisory” functions which provide professional oversight and direction of technicians’ drug preparation and distribution activities to assure safe and expedient provision of pharmaceutical care to BHSR patients and staff. 

(5) .  Maintain control & accountability for all controlled substances' transactions per regulatory requirement (including documentation and review)

(6)  Perform remote order entry services for 2 sister hospitals 

EDUCATION< EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

1. EDUCATION: Pharmacy degree (e.g., BSC, PharmD) from an accredited college of Pharmacy

2. Requires 3 or more years of experience in a hospital, or health system pharmacy

3. Requires a current Florida Pharmacist license in good standing
