Full Time
Acts as the Technical and General Supervisor of Hematology. Performs manual and automated routine blood tests. Prepares specimens for microscope examination. Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Under the general supervision of the Administrative Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager and Medical Director, the Department Supervisor performs laboratory procedures in a timely and accurate manner according to established hospital policies and departmental procedures. The Laboraqtory Supervisor takes on extra responsibilities in a specific department to assist with the overall functionality of the laboratory. Maintains departmental procedures, supplies, maintenance logs, and quality control data for department. Evaluates new or modified test methods. Follows quality assurance calendar to assure completeness of tasks. Continually looks for ways to improve efficiency and quality in the department. Is responsible for all regulatory aspects of the department and some send out lab duties. |
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Medical/ Clinical Laboratory Science or Associate of Science in Medical Technology with Bachelor degree in biology, chemistry, or related sciences. |
Experience:
2 years experience in a hospital laboratory setting.
Licenses/Certifications:
Tennessee state supervisor’s license and ASCP certification or equivalent certification required. If out of state, TN licensure must be obtained within 3 months. |
