Join our team! Laredo Medical Center’s (LMC) 326 bed acute care hospital is seeking a new Director of Health Information Management. The hospital is located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio. Read a full position description below.

Position Summary

The Director of the HIM Department is responsible for coordinating activities associated with the medical record documentation. In addition, the director serves as an internal resource on HIM issues including ROI, confidentiality, information security, information storage and retrieval, retention & authentication of the record documentation. Performs and report findings on audit for discharge disposition and operation. Works daily on the hold report that affects the unbilled financial numbers. Works with the WC clinic on receive the WCC charts by the 15th of each month. Ensures quality and efficiency is followed in all areas of the HIM Department Strategic planning for process improvements and the ability to build and maintain relationships with other key leaders of the facility. Works on maintaining JCAHO compliance on all standards associated with the medical record & HIM Department.

Education:
Bachelor's degree is required or equivalent. A current Accredited Record Tech Certification or Register Record Administrator is highly desirable.

Experience:
Desirable characteristics include two years of college or business college, a proficiency in written and verbal communications, possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with the public; and a minimum of two year supervisory experience in a health care institution. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

Licenses / Certificates:
RHIA, RHIT or eligible
