Job Description


The Operating Room Assistant performs direct and indirect patient care in the Peri-operative setting. Assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment. Cleans surgical suites and facilitates turnovers according to AORN standards. Provides assistance in all areas of Surgical Services as needed.


  • Nursing assistant training a plus.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to complete tasks without constant supervision.
  • Good decision making skills.
  • Mature, dignified attitude to customers.
  • Able to work under stress.
  • Able to ascertain when additional help is required.
  • Must be dependable in attendance.
  • Must be able to relate to patients, staff, physicians and visitors.
  • Motivated, reliable, conscientious team worker.
  • Ability to be flexible, to self-schedule, self-motivate, and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Six months of previous hospital experience required.
