LKMC is also proud to be the only hospital in the Florida Keys that offers labor and delivery services. We also offer physical therapy in Key West using a multi-joint strength system, in addition to other innovative systems and equipment for customized rehabilitation.

What Does a Respiratory Therapist Do?:  As a Respiratory Therapist with Lower Keys Medical Center, you will spend your day…

  • You will be assisting in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders.
  • Collecting and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases.
  • Also you will measure the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Also a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Typically you will report to a manager or head of a unit/department.

Which Qualifications Do You Need? : In order to set you up for success, you need the basics of…

  • An Associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program is required.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the NBRC.
  • Current BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP Certification required.
  • You will need to be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within this field.
