Job Description

Athletic Trainer

Job Summary:

  • Under the direction of a physician, treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility.
  •  Provides injury prevention programs, emergency care for injuries, rehabilitation education and treatment for assigned athletic organizations.

  • Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

 

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications

Registration/Certification/Licensure: 

  • Certification from the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA)
  • Indiana Athletic Trainers Board License.  
  • CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Drivers License

    Experience: 

  • Previous experience as an athletic trainer with high school or professional sports organizations a plus.

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree Master's degree preferred from accredited program (preferably in biological and/or health science)

Other:

  • Ability to travel to assigned sites to provide athletic training services.
