Position Overview

The EEG Tech monitors patients' comfort, blood pressure and heart rate during tests. Prepare reports of diagnostic procedures for interpretation by physician. Conduct and analyze complex electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction velocity (NCV), or other neurodiagnostic tests. Adjust equipment and controls according to physicians' orders or established protocol. Obtain and record patient identification, medical history and test results. High School Diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year of previous experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs EEGs through the use of specialized equipment
  • Assists cardiopulmonary staff with pulmonary rehabilitation programs
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the department and provides care to the patients through assessment, observation and documentation

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved formal program of Electroencephalography is preferred or on the job experience working in a neurologist office
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) is required
  • NON-REGISTERED – If not Certified, but has working experience in performing EEG's in clinical setting, then has 1 year to obtain either Certification or become Registered.Certified EEG Technologist 6 months in performing EEG’s in a clinical setting.
  • REGISTERED – Professional credentials in a least one modality
    Preferred: Registered ABRET
