The position will contribute to the enhancement of Laredo Medical Center under the direction of the Women’s Services Director. The Perinatal Program Coordinator will support the development of the Women’s Services Maternal Designation Survey, Texas AIM Plus and the CHS Perinatal OB Bundles.

The role is supported by the Assistant Director and Clinical Coordinators for the units. Key functions include: quality assurance, review of medical records, facilitate staff educational requirements and compliance for continuous survey readiness, and collaborative projects with NICU Program Coordinator. 

POSITION INSIGHTS: 

  • Coordinates the development of the Women’s Services Maternal Designation readiness, its accreditation, and leads the project by collaborating in a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of the Texas AIM Plus bundles and acts as a liaison to the community by providing and organizing education specific to the bundles.
  • Develops educational programs for nurses, clinical staff, physicians, and EMS aimed at improving safe outcomes for our patients.
  • Facilitates physician collaboration and utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to improve patient outcomes in a cost effective manner.
  • Participates in the collection and monitoring of data for quality improvement of patient care, compliance with Premium Credit, and the CHS Perinatal OB Bundles.
  • Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.
  • Provides support for departments that work within the Women’s service line related to best practice for patients.
  • Assists in the planning, development and implementation of program goals for the Women’s Services.
  • Monitors the ongoing CQI process to improve care of the maternal patient population and collaborates with the Quality Department.
  • Assures compliance with all JCAHO and other applicable regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Performs such other duties as reasonably requested by or otherwise necessary to properly assist the operations of the Perinatal Program.
  • Responsible for preparation and lead presentations for accrediting agencies related to the Perinatal Program.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Registered Nurse with current Texas licensure in good standing with The Texas Board of Nursing.
  2. BSN required. Masters preferred.
  3. No less than five years of Women’s Services nursing experience.
  4. Previous work experience in program development and quality assurance preferred.
  5. Excellent communication skills to all levels of healthcare staff.
  6. Collaborate effectively with healthcare members, including physicians.
  7. Demonstrated problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
  8. Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to adapt to change, use independent judgment and exercise initiative.
  9. Experience with program development; including Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology for quality improvement.
  10. Ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organization and be able to attend meetings, education events, and provide community outreach.
  11. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
