Incumbent is responsible for coordination of the Medical Staff program as defined by facility Bylaws, and under the leadership of the program Director. Facilitates the daily operations of Medical Staff Services and the credentialing function, maintaining effective and efficient systems to support the medical staff organizations. Responsible for all aspects of credentialing including continuing medical education, appointments, reappointments, sponsorships, privileging for medical staff physicians and Allied Health professionals, and other medical staff programs. This includes establishing and implementing privileging criteria and monitoring provisional requirements for members of the medical staff and ensuring that accreditation compliance is carried out in a timely and effective manner. Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission, State and Federal regulations, Medical Bylaws Rules and Regulations as well as Hospital policies and procedures and oversee maintenance of confidential credential files.
Performs research, prepares reports and drafts correspondence for program Director and other hospital and Medical Staff leaders. Provides orientation materials for new staff members and interfaces with physician recruiting. Schedules required meetings, prepares agendas, and produces minutes from same.
Serves as liaison between hospital administration and medical staff leadership as assigned, working with and providing professional assistance to both entities, and serving as a resource to other hospital departments. Maintains contact with the quality department regarding medical/legal matters. Handles medical staff issues with sensitivity and confidentiality.
