Department Laboratory - Clinical
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years recent phlebotomy experience with progressively more responsibility. Leadership experience a plus.
Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) with additional training in related areas.
Registration/Certification: Phlebotomy certification a plus
Job Knowledge & Skills:
Requires strong analytical and organizational skills to prepare and maintain various documentation/reports, monitor activities of staff and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Requires strong working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related behaviors, needs, and comfort appropriate to the age (including neonate, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served to support the provision of an individualized multidisciplinary plan of care.
Requires leadership, group cohesion and communication skills promoting teamwork in support of group achievement, providing positive reinforcement of section performance.
Requires a full understanding of the role of the laboratory support processes in assisting patient care and the responsibility of the laboratory to provide accurate and timely information to assist in positive patient outcomes in addition to the importance of maintaining positive working relationships with other staff members in the laboratory, the hospitals and client offices.
Requires a working understanding of laboratory policies and procedures in regard to specimen collection, processing, testing, and reporting; in addition to the operation and maintenance of related equipment in order to support uninterrupted services in assigned areas.
Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external customers, as needed.
