Job Description

Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital is located in Warsaw, IN.  We offer a registered nursing intern program for nursing students that are enrolled in their senior year of school.  We offer an opportunity to work side by side with a registered nurse in our Emergency Care Center to gain quality experience prior to graduation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Must participate in education classes (Core Classes, Introduction to EKG, etc) appropriate to the patient population.

 

Licensure:

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification) within 1 week of hire and maintained biannually.

 

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING REQUIRED:

Students in BSN program are eligible at the end of their second year when they begin clinicals. Students in ASN are eligible at the end of their first year. Transcripts of classes must be submitted.  Must graduate from nursing program within six months of hire and successfully pass boards within three months of graduation.  Must satisfactorily complete the first scheduled nursing orientation following employment.  No individual patient assignment will be given until passing the RN board exam.

 

Other:

  1. Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written
  2. Demonstrates basic knowledge of nursing practice, procedures, techniques, equipment utilized, and applicable regulations.
  3. Requires an understanding of basic EKG rhythms (per area of assignment)
  4. Requires organizational skills to assign nursing staff.
  5. Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to establish and maintain positive therapeutic/working relationships with all internal/external department customers, as needed.
  6. Requires a working knowledge of the related behaviors, needs, and comfort appropriate to the age (including neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and aging adult) and diagnosis of the patient served in order to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Must be enrolled in their final year of ASN or BSN program for nursing.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient (infant, child, adolescent, adult, or geriatric) served on assigned unit/department.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to contagious disease through contact with patients.
