Summary:

The Associate Chief Medical Information Officer (Associate CMIO) is responsible for leading the implementation, optimization and innovation of health information technology at Community Health Systems. The Associate CMIO will report directly to the Chief Medical Information Officer and assumes responsibility for clinical system design, implementation, and optimization. The Associate CMIO should be a contemporary clinician and lead development as well as change management of clinical content, decision support and workflows within the EMRs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads design of clinical pathways, evidence based clinical content, and effective clinical decision support within the EMRs to improve clinical and business outcomes.
  •  Leads and organizes change management of EHR design and content which balances standardization as well as enables innovation across all the entities. Leads and facilitates clinical advisory groups in the design of clinical systems to support excellence in patient care and research.
  •  Streamlines the deployment and adoption of new health information technology at CHS facilities.
  •  Assists the CMIO in the areas of planning, development, preparation and implementation of strategic and tactical clinical information systems. This may include but not limited to: core clinical systems, provider order entry, clinical training, and documentation.
  •  Collaborates closely with other clinical/operation leaders at CHS including but not limited to Quality nursing, pharmacy, lab, radiology, revenue cycle, registration, etc and develops transferrable models of care.
  •  Demonstrates data driven improvement of clinical and business outcomes by spearheading optimization and innovation. Assist data science team with development of analytics to effectively measure the impact.
  •  Works closely with the regulatory team and ensure that the EMR design and end user adoption achieve successful regulatory compliance

  •  Possesses good grasp of clinical work flow in both inpatient and outpatient settings, use of clinical information systems and outcomes measurement.
  • Experience leading a large clinical program, service line, or medical facility.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education: MD or DO from accredited Medical school
  • Preferred Education: Formal education and training in Clinical Informatics
  • Required Experience: 5-10 years of clinical informatics experience and at least 3 years of direct clinical care
  • Preferred Experience: Experience leading clinical practice
  • Required License/Registration/Certification: Board certification in any clinical specialty, Valid US Medical License
  • Preferred License/Registration/Certification: Clinical Informatics board certification
