Job Description

Lutheran Downtown Hospital - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Located on the southwest corner of Main and Van Buren, Lutheran Downtown Hospital opened for patient care in November 2021 with 60 beds and room to expand. A modern hospital in the heart of the city, Lutheran Downtown Hospital offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, opening with a 19-room emergency department, four operating suites, three gastroenterology suites, diagnostic imaging services, robotic-assisted surgery capabilities and laboratory services.

The planned size of the facility reflects the growth in services being offered in outpatient settings as medical technologies advance. The facility is built with space to accommodate future growth to more than 100 beds, based on the community's needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or completed a surgical technology program or completed a surgical technology program provided by the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard or the commissioned corps of the United States Public Health Service. 
  • Documentation of actively practicing surgical technology in a health care facility prior to July 1, 2009, certification (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology is required within 12 months from graduation date. 
  • Documentation of actively practicing surgical technology in a health care facility prior to July 1, 2009 will be accepted in lieu of certification requirements. 
  • Certification is not required to be maintained after initial attainment.
  • CST certification required.
  • 15 continuing education hours related to the practice of surgical technology must be maintained annually to continue employment.  This is tracked within the department by management from documentation provided by the surg tech associate.
  • CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) is required within three (3) months of date in position and must be maintained current.
