Requirements:

  • Bachelors Required, Master or doctoral Degree preferred. 
  • Current State of Florida license as an Occupational Therapist

 

About the Job:

An Occupational Therapist is responsible to interpret, plan, and supervise patient treatments in accordance with the physician referral and standard Occupational Therapy practice guidelines to ensure the care, safety and well being of the patient. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery to achieve desired patient outcomes. A Occupational Therapist takes into account patient acuity levels, ages, disabilities, and stages of development in the performance of their responsibilities. Performs all other duties required.

Plans and conducts individualized occupational therapy programs to help patients develop, regain, or maintain their ability to perform daily activities. Teaches patients skills/techniques and how to use adaptive equipment for participating in activities. Studies, evaluates, and records patients' activities and progress. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and required state certification as a occupational therapist. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

  • Outpatient, Acute and Rehabilitation Units 
  • Approximately three to six months on-the-job experience necessary in order to gain full knowledge of occupational therapy techniques, objectives, and professional guidelines in order to be able to independently evaluate patients and to develop and administer treatments for the unique needs of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
