Requirements:

  • Current state of Florida license as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • At least three to six months prior clinical work experience in a physical therapy setting necessary in order to gain full understanding of physical therapy programs, treatments, and written procedures. Learn physical therapy department policies, procedures, and related regulations that are provided in written procedures and protocols, taking into account appropriate treatments for the unique needs of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.  Independently administers treatment.

About the Job:

Provides physical therapy treatment for inpatients and outpatients under minimum supervision of a Registered Physical Therapist and according to established policies and procedures.  Recommends modification of Physical Therapist’s treatment plan as patient’s status changes.  Provides complete documentation in a timely manner in compliance with department standards.  Communicates with interdisciplinary team members.  Adheres to the mission of Physicians Regional Healthcare System and Community Cares.  Provides treatment for patients of various ages ranging from neonates, infant, child, adolescence, adults, and geriatric patients.

Assists a Physical Therapist with a patient's rehabilitative activities to help reduce pain and improve mobility. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A limited degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a physical therapist. Associate's degree from an accredited program and licensure as a physical therapist assistant, bachelors degree preferred. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
