Summary:
Provides management of professional and general liability claims files, including assessment of liability, evaluation of case reserves, development/approval of defense strategy, and negotiations (if appropriate). Provides supervision of outside claims adjuster and attorneys. Completes documents necessary for compliance with insurance reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise professional and general liability claims files, including assessment of liability, case reserves, development/approval of defense strategy, direction of negotiation, etc.
- Supervise outside adjusters and attorneys
- Establish files and implement Community Health Systems’ protocol for potentially compensable events, claims and litigation
- Identify trends/patterns requiring corrective action
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.
- Experience:
- 3 to 5 years experience in direct supervision of professional liability claims/litigation.
- Experience in healthcare field preferred.
- General insurance knowledge preferred
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: While this job has no in-house supervisory responsibilities, there is supervision of outside adjusters and attorneys.
